firm has grown into one of the country’s most
significant personal injury law firms. Joe is a highly
experienced and nationally recognized attorney whose
practice focuses on asbestos/mesothelioma cases, as well
as consumer, environmental and product injury cases. Mr.
Belluck has spent his entire legal career representing
injured consumers and workers, and has won a number of
major cases involving injuries from asbestos, defective
medical products, tobacco and lead paint—including a
recent asbestos case that settled for over $12 million.
Motivated by a desire to fight injustice and to seek
justice for his clients, Joe has dedicated his law
practice to representing individual consumers and
workers against large multi-national corporations.
Joe is known nationally for both his legal ability
and his high ethical standards. He co-chaired Mealey’s
National Asbestos Litigation SuperConference in October,
2007. Most recently, in April of 2008, he was appointed
by New York Governor David A. Patterson to serve on the
New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct—the state
commission that decides ethical complaints against
judges. In 2008, he was also named a New York SuperLawyer.
Mr. Belluck has lectured extensively on asbestos,
defective products and tort law, and has served as an
adjunct lecturer of law at the SUNY-Buffalo School of
Law, where he taught a course on asbestos and mass
torts.
Mr. Belluck is also an avid motorcycle rider, and has significant experience representing injured motorcycle riders.
Prior to founding Belluck & Fox, Mr. Belluck served
as counsel to the New York State Attorney General, where
he represented the State of New York in its litigation
against the tobacco industry. Mr. Belluck was
instrumental in settling the State’s tobacco lawsuit for
$25 billion. Joe also served as Director of Attorney
Services for Trial Lawyers Care, a volunteer
organization dedicated to providing free legal
assistance to victims of the September 11, 2001
terrorist attacks.
Mr. Belluck is an active member of several bar
associations. He was recently asked to join the
Fellows of the American Bar Foundation, an organization
of lawyers and judges who have exhibited the highest
principles of the legal profession, and currently serves on the
Board of Directors of the New York State Trial Lawyers
Association and the New York Academy of Trial Lawyers.
Mr. Belluck graduated magna cum laude from
the SUNY-Buffalo School of Law in 1994. During law
school, he served as Articles Editor of the Buffalo
Law Review and received the New York State Bar
Association’s Legal Ethics Award. After law school, Mr.
Belluck served as a judicial law clerk for Justice Lloyd
Doggett of the Texas Supreme Court, and then as a staff
attorney and consumer lobbyist for Public Citizen in
Washington, D.C.
