New York Child Victims Act Lawyers
How does the Child Victims Act change the statute of limitations for adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse to file a civil lawsuit against their abuser?
The New York State Child Victims Act (NY CVA) changes the state’s previously strict sexual abuse statute of limitations. It provides a special window for all victims to file civil lawsuits regardless of their age or when it happened.
This is an important moment for abuse victims following years of opposition by organizations like the Catholic Church and Boy Scouts of America amongst others. We understand it can take years to come to terms with what happened, and will be with you every step of the way in pursuit of justice.
