Founded by German immigrants in St. Louis, Missouri during the 1850s, Anheuser-Busch is one of the oldest and longest-operating breweries in the United States. The use of technology and long-range distribution techniques facilitated rapid growth at the company. Years later, in the 1870s, Anheuser-Busch became the first brewing company in America to use pasteurization during the production process, allowing the company to avoid spoilage while transporting beer across long distances. The incorporation of artificial refrigeration in rail cars and other methods of preserving freshness, in addition to the creation of Budweiser in 1876 as their American-style lager, paved the way for coast-to-coast sales and distribution, also the first company in the country to achieve the feat.
In 1901, Anheuser-Busch surpassed sales of 1 million barrels of beer, cementing it as one of the largest brewing companies in the nation. Today, the once-small, neighborhood lager brewer has grown to over 19,000 employees with 12 US breweries and more than 50 others across the globe, producing many household name beers such as Budweiser, Michelob, Busch, and Stella Artois.
Older residential and commercial buildings across America have infamously used construction products containing asbestos, most commonly in cement, plumbing pipes, tile flooring, and both interior and exterior insulation.
