Central Hudson Gas & Electric’s Danskammer Powerhouse is located in Newburgh, New York. It is located on the shore of the Hudson River, 0.5 miles upstream from the larger oil-fired Roseton Generating Station. Units 1 and 2 burn natural gas as fuel, and oil as a backup fuel, and units 3 and 4 burn exclusively natural fuel.
In the 1952, the Danskammer Powerhouse was built by Central Hudson Gas & Electric. The name Danskammer is Dutch for “Dance Chamber.” In 2001, it was sold to Dynegy as part of electricity regulation. In 2013, the plant was sold to Helios Power Capital, LLC. Helios Power Capital, LLC sold the plant to Mercuria Energy Group, who sold it to
Tiger Infrastructure and Agate Power. As of 2018, it is owned by Danskammer Energy, LLC.
