The Crescent Tool Company began in Jamestown, New York in 1907. The company was known for producing adjustable wrenches. Crescent Tool Company’s production facility was located on Harrison Street and was comprised of nine interconnected buildings. Crescent was known for manufacturing a variety of hand tools, the most famous being the Crescent adjustable wrench. The Crescent Tool Company was sold to investors in 1960 and renamed the Crescent Niagara Corporation. Cooper Industries bought the Crescent Niagara Corporation in 1968. The Jamestown Plant closed in 1984. Today, Apex Brands Inc. owns the Crescent Niagara Corporation and production is based out of South Carolina.
Before the 1970s, the manufacturing and maintenance processes at the Crescent Tool Company utilized materials that contained asbestos. Asbestos fibers were consequently emitted into the air and inhaled by laborers.
Unfortunately, many of our clients who worked at the Crescent Tool Company are being diagnosed with malignant mesothelioma and lung cancer.
